The OpScan Formula Network

Building OpScan formulas can be a great way to save time when searching for new trade candidates. With the release of OptionVue 5 version 1.60, each OpScan formula is now held in a self-contained file that can be easily transferred between fellow OpScan users. OpScan users can now send formula files via email to other OpScan users ready for immediate use within OptionVue 5.

Sharing OpScan formulas and ideas is a great way to come in contact with other traders. Use the message board network to open lines of communication with other traders and share ideas about how you can use OpScan to help find trading candidates. Working on OpScan formulas with a partner can sometimes bring additional thoughts and ideas when developing the formula or trade idea.

Transferring OpScan formulas is just an email away!

Follow these simple steps below to send an OpScan formula to a friend via email. For our example, we used Microsoft's Outlook Express; however, most email programs provide a file attachment utility. The actual steps may have to be modified slightly to achieve the same results with your email program.

1. Open your email program and create a new email addressed to your friend.

2. Select the file attachment "Paper Clip" to attach a file.

Once the file attachment is selected a window allowing you to navigate to the desired file will open. OpScan formula files are stored in the Opscan folder within the OpVue5. The default location upon installation is C:/OpVue5/Opscan.

3. Select the desired formula and then select the "Attach" button to attach the OpScan formula to your email. Once the file is attached, your email should appear like the picture below indicating the file is attached to the email and it is ready to be sent.

An email that is received with an OpScan formula attached to it, will appear as it does in the picture below indicating that the email has the file attached to it.

1. To save this file, simply right mouse click and select "Save As" from the dropdown menu.

2. Once "Save As" is selected from the dropdown menu, a window will appear asking you to input the name and location of the file to be saved.

3. The OpScan formula file should be saved in your OpScan folder within the OpVue5 folder. The default location upon installation is C:/OpVue5/Opscan. The file name will default to the title of the formula as it was sent to you. Select the "Save" button, the file will be saved and is ready for immediate use within OptionVue 5.
